The Vineyard in March

The Vineyard in March

What’s going on in the Vineyard

It has been a few month since the last musings, but we have been

busy in the Vineyard again, getting ready for the 2023 season.

This time of year is pruning, where we cut off last years growth or

canes back to the trunk apart from 1 cane which will be this years

growing cane. This cane normally has 5 or 7 nodes (or growing points),

which in late March to early April will form the new canes for the

canopy for the year. The 2022 canes are pulled out from the trellis and

have to be mowed down as they will carry diseases which will carry

over in to this years crop, so has to be mowed back into the ground.

Our passion is to produce fine wine from grapes grown in our vineyard. Good wines bring people together, we are excited about our wine; to us it is about sharing it with friends, old and new.
